Garden Clearance and Rescue in Surrey and West Sussex
Gardens get away from people. It happens to the best of us.
Garden Thyme offers a proper garden clearance, rescue and restoration service across Surrey and West Sussex, with coverage extending into Hampshire and SW London.
We take on overgrown, neglected gardens and bring them back under control through a series of short, focused visits rather than one overwhelming blitz. No judgement, and no pressure to sign up for anything you're not sure about.
We have been offering garden clearance and renovation services since 1997. Our vast experience ensures we are able to rescue and restore gardens of all nature.
By the end of the process you're left with a garden you can use again, not just look at, and the kind of working knowledge of it that stops things slipping back to where they started.

How our trusted service works
Most garden clearance companies turn up with a team of five, work for a day, and leave you with a bare plot and a bill that assumes they'll never see you again. We'd rather work in smaller sessions that give the garden (and you) time to recover properly.
Our rescue and restoration work runs in structured sessions of around three hours, typically fortnightly or on a similar rhythm that suits you and the garden. There's no contract and no minimum number of visits to commit to, so if life gets in the way and you need to pause for a month, that's absolutely fine.
What's covered?
The work depends on what the garden needs, but broadly we handle:
-
Overgrown border clearance
-
Scrub and bramble clearing
-
Pruning that's been put off for too long
-
Establishing fresh planting beds where the old ones have disappeared under weeds
-
Ongoing seasonal maintenance to keep the restoration on track
What makes this approach successful?
Seriously overgrown gardens are rarely a one-visit problem. Pretending otherwise is how you end up with a garden that looks tidy for three weeks and then reverts. Persistent weeds like bindweed and ground elder don't surrender to a single hard clearance, and they need to be worked on across seasons with an understanding of what's underneath the mess.
The phased model gives us that time, and gives you a more manageable way to pay for it. Three hours at a stretch is easier to budget for than a full-day crew, you can see what each session has achieved before the next one's booked, and the shorter window fits around normal life if you want to be home to talk things through.
Returning to the same garden across the year tells us things a single visit never could:
-
Which corners dry out and which hold moisture
-
Where the frost pockets are
-
What's actually a weed and what's a self-seeded foxglove worth keeping
-
How the light moves through the space at different times of year
Visit by visit, both sides can see the garden coming back.
